Moles are formed because skin cells within the body lump themselves together instead of spreading out across the skin. This formation is dark in color and it is usually harmless as long as it does not begin to mutate
Sun exposure can cause these moles to become atypical due to the fact that it damages the DNA within these cells. Sun exposure is such a dangerous factor when it comes to having this predisposition to moles because it not only heightens your chances of Melanoma but it also causes new moles to form on the body therefore increasing your risk of damage to them.
Moles usually occur more frequently in people who have fair skin. Due to the sensitivity of their skin the sun affects them in a more adverse way then it would other people. The damage that is done to their skin when they are out in the sun causes moles to form more easily than they would on someone with a sturdier skin and a darker complexion. Although anyone can be at risk of developing moles from sun exposure, those with lighter skin are at an even higher risk of developing them and possibly being at risk for cancers relating to them.
If fair skinned individuals do not take extra precautions when they are out in the sun their skin cannot protect itself properly and so the sun is able to cause more damage than it usually would. This can be true of individuals with darker skin but those with fair skin are at an increased risk.
If we spend a lot of time in the sun the UV rays begin to collect within our skin. You might only notice it after years but soon it can have a negative effect on your health and on the formation of moles. Even with light clothing on, these rays are able to reach our skin and this is where they do their damage. They not only cause moles to form on our bodies but they also damage the cells within our skin causing them to lose proper function.
In order to prevent these moles from forming all over the body or from becoming a problem the body must have the proper protection when it is out in the sun. This protection includes the proper clothing as well as using the necessary amount of sun block.
Staying out of the sun from the hours when it is the hottest is very important. This is when the UV rays are the strongest and this is one way of preventing them from gathering in your skin and damaging the cells.
Proper sun protection can protect the skin from forming moles as well as protecting the moles from being damaged by the sun. This can lead to skin cancer which is very treatable but only when caught early. Prevention is always better than cure when it comes to health and having a sufficient amount of knowledge on the causes and treatments is one way to stay healthy and cancer free.
